## Caption

The 1946 Los Alamos criticality accident exposed physicist Alvin Graves to intense neutron radiation during an experiment known as “Tickling the Dragon’s Tail.” Neutron activation caused trace radioactivity in materials within his body, including dental fillings. Gold caps were later fitted to shield surrounding tissue from continued radiation exposure. This incident highlights how high energy neutron flux can induce radioactivity in otherwise stable elements, a phenomenon central to nuclear physics and reactor science, but dangerous when occurring inside the human body.
