Compared to earlier observatories like Hubble Space Telescope and Spitzer Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope delivers dramatically sharper and deeper images. Its larger mirror collects far more light and its infrared sensitivity reveals faint, distant galaxies hidden by cosmic dust. Webb can resolve finer details in star forming regions, planetary atmospheres, and the early universe, producing images with higher resolution and richer structure.
