Story time... ⤵️

When Violet was younger, we tried multiple times to go to the movie theater knowing one of us might have to leave early with her.

Sometimes she couldn’t sit still.

Sometimes she talked loudly.

She asked to "go home" or she just got up and walked away.

And there were many years we didn’t try at all.

Over time though, something shifted and one day we made it through a whole movie.

And when we talk about the "little wins that feel huge" for our kids with a disability - this was exactly that for us.

Of course in the grand scheme of things, it isn't a big deal whether she sits through a movie or not.

BUT, it felt like just one more thing our family couldn't do. And sometimes those things add up.

But now she doesn't just tolerate it, she ENJOYS the experience... the posters, the popcorn smell (extra butter), being out in public, choosing her snacks.

I’m not sharing this as a promise that one day your child will be able to sit through a movie (maybe you don't even care about that?!), but I'm sharing as a reminder of how valid it is to celebrate the small things that may feel silly to someone else.

Because for us, this was a big deal.

What's a "win" you've had recently that might feel small to someone else but huge to you? We want to celebrate with you in the comments 🎉 🫶
