You have the right to request a review or reevaluation of your child’s IEP at ANY time if you believe their needs have changed or if the current plan is not effective! 

This means that you don't have to wait until your child's annual IEP meeting if you have concerns about their current placement in a public school setting...

Some reasons you might be considering an alternative school option for your child include:

➡️ if they are continuously not making progress toward their IEP goals
➡️ you or the school team have ongoing behavioral or safety concerns
➡️ the public school has insufficient specialized services (e.g. lacking needed intensive behavioral interventions or particular therapies)
➡️ your child has has complex medical or health needs that are not being adequately met in their public school

And at the end of the conversation, the IEP team (including you!) might decide the current setting truly IS the best option for your child...

BUT it is worth knowing as much as you can about all your options so you can feel confident in whatever the outcome is.
