Your child deserves a positive experience at school, and you deserve to have a peaceful year filled with as little advocacy needed as possible.

For us, this starts with our child's teacher and cultivating a positive, supportive relationship from the get-go.

If you have had issues with your child's IEP not getting implemented properly in the past or feeling like it was you against the school, it is so easy to go into the new year feeling jaded toward the whole system.

And trust me when I say, I GET IT. 😅

But I think it is so important to remember that teachers are not the problem.

They often care more than you can imagine and are fighting in the background to make sure your child gets the supports they need, AND that they get the supports THEY need to support your child.

Coming from a place of partnership from the beginning opens the door for clear & trusting communication about the good and the not so good moments so we are able to navigate them together.

And unfortunately we know that still doesn't solve all the much larger scale, systematic problems...

BUT, it is a healthy place to start and something within my control, so I will always make the effort 🫶
