February 2024. An idea that started with one simple observation: young girls were missing out on sports opportunities that could change their lives. What began as conversations about equity and access quickly turned into action plans, program development, and the kind of late-night strategy sessions that happen when you know you’re onto something important.

From that first spark of an idea to launching our EmpowerPlay and PlayFit programs, Melyssa walks us through how Leveling the Fields went from concept to reality in less than a year. The challenges, the breakthroughs, the moment she knew this had to happen.
