Why I did not renew my passport from the UK…

I had come back to Delhi for the festive season and had a few errands to run. One of the most important ones being my passport renewal as it was due to expire in 2025.

Did you know that you can apply for a re-issue of passport up to 1 year before the expiry?

I applied online and went for “tatkal” or priority service as it was way way cheaper than doing it from the UK & I needed my passport back soon so I could plan my return back to the UK with no hassle.

So here’s the deets that you may find useful.

Where to apply online?
www.passportindia.gov.in or the Passport Seva Home as they call it.

How much did it cost?
Priority- INR 3500 36 pages
Normal- INR 1500 36 pages 

When did I get an appointment?
The very next day! Isn’t that great👌🏻

What documents did I need?
I used my Aadhar card and stamped and signed passbook from my bank. Of course you need the appointment message on your number and the application you filled out online. 

How much time did it take?
I’d say about 30-45 minutes to do the whole process at the passport office. Very smooth! 

I got my new passport in 48 hours and it was a relief indeed. 

If your passport is expiring in the next 12 months and you have a planned visit to India then I’d highly recommend you get it done from India as it’s less hassle and deffo cheaper😊
