Renowned for its natural beauty, the Nilgiris district is an abode of lush landscapes, rolling hills, and unparalleled tranquility. The region comprises various elements, from the historical significance of the Nilgiris to its modern-day prominence as a sought-after tourist destination. 
The Nilgiri Mountains’ peaks are above 2,000 metres (6,600 ft), the highest peak being Doddabetta, at 2,637 metres (8,652 ft). Ooty is a major tourist location of the Nilgiris.
