Egyptian blue is produced by heating a mixture of:
	•	Silica (sand or quartz)
	•	A copper source (malachite or bronze scrap)
	•	Calcium carbonate (limestone)
	•	An alkali flux (natron or plant ash)

The mixture was fired at ~800–1,000°C. Under these conditions, the mineral cuprorivaite (CaCuSi₄O₁₀) crystallizes, creating the distinctive deep blue color.

This wasn’t accidental. It required:
• Controlled kiln temperatures

• Reproducible formulation
