Because it’s important to remember that:
👉🏽 not all individuals who give birth are mothers,
👉🏽 not all mothers who give birth are women, 
👉🏽 and not all parents physically go through the birthing process
👼🏽

As I strive to make my teachings accessible to all humans and as notorious_.d.i.g and I embark on this journey of determining what parenthood may look like for us as a cis-het couple whether it’s birthing, adoption, surrogacy, or skipping it all together and just continuing to be fur parents, I’ve taken a deeper dive into my own learnings on how to truly be inclusive to the LGBTQIA+ community as a teacher through language. It’s quite a simple and non harmful way of being a true ally. Change starts with the way we think and therefore speak when referring to members of the queer community. 
🙏🏽
Because using non gendered and inclusive language in our healthcare systems has proven to have more positive outcomes for birthing people (especially in terms of mental health) and does not minimize or have harmful effects on the care provided to cishet birthing families. And guess what? It costs nothing.
