Our adoption journey.

We always knew with spoonfool that we wanting a child 👶. We didn’t know how, when, where, but we knew it was something we wanted together. Every few months we were joking about being dads and how fun it would be to be watching mini versions of ourselves growing up by our sides. We avoided the topic with family. We didn’t want to give hopes for something that seems almost impossible to achieve.

We knew that in France it wouldn’t have been possible for us to become dads.

We moved to Scotland in 2014. We felt welcomed in Edinburgh, our new home, from the first day. After a few years here we realised that here becoming a family was a possibility.

Back in 2019, at the wedding of marinnouup & benoit_pallas. We had a conversation with my uncle that changed everything. He asked us “do you know if you want children together?” We answered, yes and added, “but we don’t know when and how”. He added “Adoption can take years you know. Would you not have regrets if in 10 years you realise that you are finally ready, but now you have to start a process that could take up to 10 years? You will be great dads. Don’t wait too much, if don’t want regrets”. He had a fair point. This simple conversation, over a coffee, on the best day of my PetiteSoeurDeCoeur changed everything.

We came back to Scotland. Our conversation was looping in my head. Am I ready?! Are we ready? Will we ever feel ready? What if he is right... What if we miss the boat?! My handsone husband Spoonfool would be an fantastic dad, wouldn’t he?

After weeks of thinking. We decided together that it was time. It was the right moment in our lives to start the journey. December 2019, an email was sent to Barnardo’s to ask information about adoption in Scotland. January was officially the beginning of our journey to become dads. 2020 is the year that will change everything. We still have a long journey ahead before being able to have a petit loup with us but we are getting there. 🤞#adoption #adoptionuk #adoptionjourney #adoptionjourneyuk #adoptionislove #gay #gayadoptionuk #gayadoption #adoptionstory #gaycouple #gayfamily
