…turns out ‘emergencies’ mean very different things to different people… especially after midnight 🫤

From surprise dinner plans to guests hunting for takeaways, here are some of the quirkiest late-night calls our Norfolk holiday cottage hosts have received…

…plus a few shared in the comments from our last post:

1. “We got a low rating because there wasn’t a wine fridge - and someone asked why there wasn’t an egg pan.” From Tara.

2. “Midnight call: smoke alarms going off because one guest was smoking in a no-smoking bedroom.” From Rose.

3. “Had to go buy a bread knife because, apparently, the other knives wouldn’t cut.” From Erin.

4. “Guests arrived late and asked why I hadn’t noticed a huge stain on the bed… it was the shadow from the lampshade.” From Claire.

5. “Guests invited friends to join them and called at 10pm asking for a couple of air beds, extra bedding, and towels.”

6. “A 5am call from guests who didn’t realise Wells-next-the-Sea had seagulls - it’s too noisy, we’re leaving.”

7. “Guest called at 11pm to say they couldn’t find the Wi-Fi password - it was on the router they were holding.”

8. “A host had a frantic midnight call - guests staying in Blakeney were walking the streets looking for a takeaway. Yes, really 🤔.”
