Members of the Class of 2027 gathered for Canisius High School’s hallmark Kairos Retreat earlier this school year at the beautiful campus of the Notre Dame Retreat House in Canandaigua.

Named for the Greek term meaning "God's time," the Kairos retreat offers students set-apart time to reflect more deeply on their experiences so far at Canisius and their relationship with self, God and others.

Students leave their phones behind for the three-day, two-night retreat. This is Canisius’ 27th school year of Kairos retreats.

Kairos is led by a team of students and faculty members who share reflections, lead meditations and guide small-group discussions about identity, spirituality and personal growth.

At the close of this 129th CHS edition of Kairos, students left the Finger Lakes with a greater sense of their sense of self, community and familial belonging, as well as with a call to faith, discipleship and service.

The student leaders of Kairos 129 were: Matthew Carver ’26, Gianni Latella ’26, Michael Riad ’26, Leo Mertz ’26, Zach Benczkowski ’26, Matthew Murad ’26 and Austin Xiao ’26.

The adult leaders were Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico, S.J., Campus Minister Mikayla Fulton, history teacher Criag Hinchcliffe, Campus Ministry Associate Will Miller, Dean of Students Christoper Sweeney ’84 and science teacher Scott Walters.
 
Another large group of students experienced Kairos 130 in Canandaigua this past week.
