Todd Grimson set out to write 'the final, ultimate vampire novel' when he penned STAINLESS, a grungey, noirish love story between a 400 hera old vampire and an ex-rockstar, set in 90s LA.

Todd Grimson (1952 - 2025) was lauded by The Guardian as 'the greatest horror writer you've never read'. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the 80s, a condition which limited him to his home for much of his time, he read variously and voraciously. His contemporary and friend, whose first manuscript of 'Geek Love' he typed, Katherine Dunn, said "he reads more than anyone I've ever known, and takes it all in... he gets on these jags where he has to read every Polish writer in translation, and then tells you which ones are the best."

He wrote 'Brand New Cherry Flavour' in 1996 (adaptated for Netflix in 2021), followed by Stainless. Justine is a chronically ill vampire, and Keith, whose dreams were squandered when his hands were mangled by an ex, is her connection to the present. They live in a shadowy world occupied by outliers and other temporal beings.

Grimson passed away in 2025, following an accident during transport from a medical facility. He was 72.

This Outsider Classics edition of STAINLESS 🩸 features a brand new introduction from Dr Alex Carabine, and is out on the 30th of April. Available to pre-order wherever you like to procure books!
