Despite winning the race, Chase Elliott was nowhere to be seen during stages 1 and 2, earning zero points. With pit strategy, the no. 9 found himself up front and won the race, grabbing the 55 points.

But it was Denny Hamlin who scored the most points. Why? Hamlin won stages 1 and 2, earning 20 points, which would tie Elliott's 55. However, Hamlin also earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap, receiving an extra 1 point, totalling 56. This is the only possible scenario, excluding the Coca-Cola 600, in which anyone can outscore the race winner.
