The two things that are fundamental when playing the puck are maintain possession and create time and space. When you rim a puck, you take away a lot of time and make maintaining possession a lot tougher. Your read prior to retrieving the puck is essential. This decision unfortunately lead to a turnover and a go ahead goal.
