Part of Howardena’s ongoing ‘Tesseract’ series, this work encapsulates the artist’s career-long investigation into processes of deconstruction and reconstruction, returning to the spray-dot technique she first developed in the early 1970s.⁠
⁠
The painting is named after the four-dimensional hypercube, and constructs a sense of illusory depth, as circles, diamonds, cones, cylinders and other geometric forms orbit and radiate from a central light source.⁠
