Lets talk about how fast Ralph Lauren moved on this campaign! (Or...it was in the works before)...or also maybe this isn’t a nod to JFK Jr. / Hulu’s ‘Love Story’ at all...but surely it is?

If it is...they saw a cultural moment forming and didn’t just reference it, but built character around it. They’ve created scenes and back drops and they tapped directly into the zeitgeist while it was still warm.

It’s the scenes and backdrops that make me think this could have been such a perfect piece for a members club, a hotel, or any space that operates all day and into the night to jump on.

It’s the kind of cultural moment you can leverage properly by creating characters and placing them in different scenes across the space, so it feels embedded in real life rather than staged.

When it’s inherently tapped into culture, it becomes genuinely watchable.

What makes it powerful is that it subtly leverages the personal brand associations of those character references, and that’s where the impact really sits.

It’s a strong example of how any brand, but especially a hospitality brand, can create characters and moments, link them to pop culture, and produce media that actually captures attention in the right audience and builds desire organically.

Brands that behave like media companies win, especially in hospitality, where atmosphere is the product.

If you can create characters people recognise and moments they want to inhabit, attention follows naturally.
