Jeff Jarrett on My World with Jeff Jarrett said he does not know if it is possible for a heel to generate real heat in professional wrestling in 2026, saying cancel culture and fan sensibilities may have made it nearly impossible.

"Can a heel get heat in 2026, or is heat equal to cancel culture? I don't know."

Jarrett pointed to his own experience in Mexico where he threw tortillas at fans and called the Mexican people "primitive" at the direction of promoter Antonio Pena. He said the angle drew massive heat for years but would never be attempted in the US today.

Conrad Thompson said the Attitude Era helped kill traditional heel heat: "Scott Hall and Kevin Nash dropping their personas and becoming the cool heel made it difficult for baby faces to be taken seriously. It sort of neutered the baby faces."

Thompson said he cannot point to anyone who generates genuine hatred right now: "I don't think people genuinely hate Max. I don't think that 'I fucking hate you' exists for MJF."

Jarrett used Randy Orton heading into WrestleMania as an example: "Everybody in the building will be singing his song."

Jarrett compared it to Hollywood: "Go into the writers room and give them one rule. You cannot create an antagonist. Are those movies going to be blockbusters?"
