The Orient Express debuted in the WWF in 1990 managed by Mr. Fuji. The team was presented as a dangerous tag team from Japan. Pat Tanaka was born in Hawaii. Mr. Fuji was born in Honolulu.

When Akio Sato returned to Japan late that year, he was replaced by Canadian wrestler Paul Diamond, who was given a red mask and the name Kato. The roster change was never acknowledged on screen.

The Tanaka and Diamond version of the team is the one most fans remember. Their match against The Rockers at the 1991 Royal Rumble remains one of the more well-regarded tag matches of that era. The team never captured the WWF Tag Team Championship.

After the WWF run, Diamond was repackaged as Max Moon. The two later reunited briefly as Badd Company in ECW.
