Hope and despair, joy and rage, laughter and tears: Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2026 spanned the whole spectrum of emotions with stories familiar and new. From King Shih-chieh's heartwrenching performance as a once-brilliant man living with dementia in Le Père, and the quick-witted banter between the audacious Deling and icy Empress Cixi, to the quirky reimagined folktales of Singapore and Taiwan in Tall Tales by fingerplayers swsg_95, and the dystopian future of humanity in The Sun, theatre at Huayi 2026 certainly brought us the drama, on all our stages.
