D-Von Dudley in an interview with DJ Vlad said a doctor told him he would have been dead, paralyzed for life, or in a nursing home if he had arrived at the hospital one minute later when he suffered a stroke in 2019.

D-Von said he was producing a scene for Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. That night, something told him to unlock his hotel door before bed. He resisted, then gave in. Hours later he collapsed and couldn’t feel his legs.

“I fell face first onto the floor, busted my mouth open. I couldn’t feel my legs.” His wife called repeatedly. He thought it was early morning. It was 11 AM. She told the hotel: “My husband is having a stroke. If he dies, I’m suing this whole hotel and the whole state of California.”

Because he unlocked the door, staff got in. Doctors put a stent in his right side to break up the blood clot. He spent two weeks in the hospital and had to be driven from California to Florida because he couldn’t fly.

D-Von then had back surgery months later. His full injury list: eight surgeries, knee replacements, lower back fusion, multiple neck fusions, a reattached retina, and 10 to 12 concussions over 33 years.

DDP Yoga transformed his recovery: “The first time I did the yoga, it was like a breath of fresh air. I don’t care if I weigh 160 pounds. Just let me be able to walk and have some type of normalcy.”
