Welcome to the homeland of the Diné People, what many call Navajo Nation, in the place that borders now identify as Arizona.

After my participation at sxsw Community Conversations, I traveled here to curate an itinerary that 100% supports Indigenous owned when visiting the world famous #antelopecanyon

I wanted to test my own recommendations and practice what I preach in traveling with intention anywhere in the world…and guess what? It’s possible!!! I love to travel, but now every time I leave Oaxaca, I try to do it through the same lens I ask of those who visit us: in reciprocity.

My page will still primarily focus on travel to Oaxaca but my travel diary will be available to my subscribers where I’ll be sharing all exclusive details from contacts, routes, itineraries, restaurants, experiences so you can replicate this and support more local and native owned businesses!

For me, it’s no longer enough to only name the land you’re on. Land back is about fairly compensating the people who maintain these sites and make it possible for us to enjoy their homelands. They’re not attractions to pin. The scenery is extraordinary, but the Diné people are the true hosts.

Traveling this way feels meaningful because, as Zapotec people, community is central to how we live. Gal Guez, reciprocity, is at the core of our worldview. Being here felt familiar, like the connection we nurture in Oaxaca.

I hope we remember to support Native owned long after #nativeamericanheritagemonth . They’re still here. Their language, their stories, their sovereignty, and their warmth continue across nearly every state in this country where tribal nations remain present
