For a brief moment in history – that sweet spot of the mid 1980s to early 2000s – a trip to the video store was a Friday night ritual to obtain a weekend’s worth of home entertainment.

Those glory days have long passed. The country is down to a single Blockbuster Video (in Bend, Oregon). Even Netflix is ending its DVD-by-mail program this fall after 25 years.
