Some things you photograph . Some things you experience. And every once in a while, you get both.

The Artemis II launch was one of those nights.

The day started out gloomy, gray skies, a bit of rain, not exactly what you hope for. But as we got closer to 5PM, everything shifted. The clouds cleared, the sky opened up, and suddenly it was a green light for launch at 6:35 PM EST.

Standing in Kennedy Space Center, you feel the countdown more than you hear it. Then ignition, light floods the sky, the ground starts to rumble, and a few seconds later the sound hits. And it’s not just loud, it’s physical. The kind of sound you feel in your chest. Honestly… surreal.

Artemis II will carry astronauts around the Moon, marking the first crewed lunar mission since 1972. 
Fun fact: This mission will take humans farther from Earth than any crewed mission in history, reaching distances beyond what Apollo astronauts traveled.

From behind the lens, you’re trying to stay technical…exposure, framing, timing, but in reality, you’re just trying to keep up with something that feels way bigger than the frame.
