Troll Training Athlete Spotlight 🔦
Name: Justin Stacy
Sport: Motocross

Favorite cross training? Probably MTB. I like a good road cycle. I also enjoy lifting.

Racing Highlight? My brother didn't get me in to racing until I was 25, and the first few years it was mainly just riding practice days to have fun. Biggest highlight as of now is that I was presented the opportunity to buy the home town track, Fast Farms MX. This has given me the benefit of having somewhere to practice consistently & allowed me the chance to keep a well known track alive and help grow the sport and be more involved in the racing community.

What is the greatest challenge athletes face today? The entire field of competition has increased with the advancements in sports science and the exposure we have to information today. There's a plethora of how to videos on YouTube teaching technique, nutrition, training, etc that's easily accessible to anyone. Secondly, I would say diet/nutrition. If you're not vigilant in food choices and habits, it is very easy to consume junk in our society. We are surrounded by it. Poor food options outweigh the good 10:1.

Best piece advice you’ve received? Man I could list a litany of David Goggins and Jocko quotes in this one. But more sport specific, practicing your technique and developing the proper habits would be high on the list. It may sound cliche but developing the proper technique, and doing so early on may the most important piece. When I first started riding I knew very little on the subject and didn't develop the habit of using my legs and knees and battled bad arm pump for several years just due to poor technique.

What makes you passionate about motocross? First of all it gives me something enjoyable to do with my brother and provides us something to do together. I really enjoy the physical aspect of the sport. I'm drawn to the demandingness of it. It gives me a reason to train and eat right and be as healthy as I can be. It's something to look forward to and there's always another race coming up, or new track to go visit, to always have something you're achieving towards and giving something to look forward to.
