Dress code: Space⁣

Before astrovicglover, astro_christina, astro_reid, and astrojeremy board our Orion spacecraft and start their journey around the Moon, they'll need to get dressed for the occasion. They'll wear the orange spacesuits seen here, formally called Orion Crew Survival System suits.⁣

Each suit is custom-designed for the astronaut who will wear it. They're equipped with tech features to help protect the astronauts on launch day, in emergency situations if they arise, throughout high-risk parts of missions near the Moon, and during the high-speed return to Earth.⁣

The Orion suits have been enhanced from head to toe with improvements to the suit worn on Shuttle missions. For example, they're bright orange to make crew members easily visible in the ocean, with a custom fit to reduce discomfort. They also have lighter, stronger, and more comfortable helmets and durable, touch-screen-compatible gloves.⁣

The Artemis II mission will not only test the Orion spacecraft, but give us an opportunity to refine the spacesuits even further for future missions.⁣
