April showers, May flowers… and a fresh start.

Spring has officially arrived, pollen and all, and March felt full in every sense. There were some truly wonderful highs, along with a few heavier moments. We spent Spring Break in Cabo, which was such a gift. I’ll admit I had some hesitation beforehand, but once we arrived, I felt completely at ease. It was beautiful, relaxing, and exactly what we needed. I also traveled to Mobile for the Home & Garden show and had the honor of speaking alongside Barry Dixon. The show itself was incredible, filled with the most beautiful antiques and artwork.

We also officially launched theinstallpodcast, which has been such an exciting moment. It’s a space where carolinegidieredesign and I share candid conversations about creativity, business, and building a life shaped by good design. It’s been a true passion project and feels like a natural extension of the conversations we’re already having every day.

On a more personal note, this month has also brought some harder moments with my mom’s recent dementia diagnosis. It’s been a lot to process, and we’re taking it one day at a time, focusing on being present and supporting her however we can. I’m holding onto the idea that even in difficult seasons, there is still beauty to be found.

With Easter around the corner and the weather finally warming up, there’s a sense of hope in the air. April in Houston always feels like a reset.

This month, I’m drawn to sky blue. It feels calm, optimistic, and uplifting, exactly the energy I’m craving. It’s a color I return to often for its versatility and softness, whether layered into a neutral palette or used in a more statement-making way. If you’re looking to incorporate it at home, start small. A pillow, a piece of art, or a ceramic accent can go a long way.

Stepping into April with a sense of lightness, a fresh perspective, and a reminder that even in the midst of everything, there is still so much beauty to be found.
