April is Second Chance Month. 🎉 

And we want to start with something simple: #secondchances aren't just good for the person getting one. They're good for everyone. 

📈 Here's what the data shows. Nationally, more than 600,000 people are released from prison every year. In North Carolina alone, roughly 20,000 people come home from prison annually and 95% of everyone incarcerated here will eventually return to their community.

What happens next determines everything. Not just for them, but for their neighbors, their children's schools, their block, their city. The research is clear. People who come home with stable jobs, safe housing, and mental health support are dramatically less likely to return to crime. In fact, #recidivism rates nationally dropped nearly 25% over a recent seven-year period in states that invested seriously in reentry; proof that what we invest in determines what we get back. 

This April, we're sharing the case for second chances. Not because it's the kind thing to do, but because it is the smart, proven, data-backed strategy for building safer communities for all of us.
