Your brain isn’t the problem.
The order you study in is.

Most students open their notes, read them, highlight them
and call it a study session.

Then wonder why none of it stays.

Here’s what’s actually happening 👇

When you re-read, your brain recognises the words.
Recognition feels like learning.
It is not.

↳ This is called the fluency illusion.
Psychologists Bjork & Bjork proved it in 1992.
Your confidence goes up. Your retention does not.

──────────────

What actually works & why:

① Study for 30–40 minutes.
Then close everything for 10 minutes.
Not pause. Stop. No phone either.

After the short break, don’t re-read.
Try to recall what you just studied from memory.

Then repeat this cycle 2–3 times.

Ebbinghaus mapped this in 1885.
The brain forgets new information quickly after learning it unless it is revisited again.

This is called the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve

② Close the notes. Open a blank page.
Write down everything you think you know about the topic.
Don't check. Just dump.

This is retrieval practice. Roediger & Karpicke (2006) showed
it improves long term retention by up to 50% over re-reading!
10 minutes of this = 2 hours of passive review.

③ Never study the same subject back to back.
Switch between subjects every session.

Kornell & Bjork (2008) found interleaved practice made students 43% better at applying concepts even though it felt harder in the moment.
Hard = learning. Easy = illusion of learning.

──────────────

You don’t need to study more.
You need to study in a way your brain was actually built for.

Save this so you remember to actually use it!

And follow @studysystems.laiba the full system (schedule + subjects + timing) is next!
