John Wayne is interviewed by Iain Johnstone about his life and his films while on location filming Chisum (1970) in Durango, Mexico in 1969.

John Wayne reveals how grateful he was to be part of an award winning production like Stagecoach (1939) early in his career. He then explains how John Ford was meticulous about choosing and handling his actors. John Wayne discusses his mentor’s strategy behind the camera in order to create an emotional response in the audience. Duke also discusses how John Ford got the right emotions out of the actors in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962).
