Ten Achievements for Ten Years - Day Two!

Good Steward Consulting's first introduction into the world of renewable energy was the contested Freeborn Wind Farm. The Freeborn Wind Farm was the second contested wind farm in the state of Minnesota, and the first to receive a permit. Our CEO, Mariah, played an integral role in the permitting and success of the Freeborn Wind Farm. The wind farm was not initially welcomed with open arms, but in December of 2018, it received its permit and became operational a few years later. 

Mariah Lynne addressed the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission with four different backgrounds: as a mother, a business owner, a community volunteer, and as a Minnesotan. Mariah saw firsthand how a different wind farm benefited her community and was excited about the prospect of another opportunity for the county. Read a statement from Mariah below on how opportunities, such as the Freeborn Wind Farm, benefit rural communities: "Since the project has been in development, I have taken on several responsibilities including the public outreach and communication of the project – both online and here on the ground. Due to the buy-local commitment of this developer, I have taken on a substantial contract. Once introduced to the project and up to speed on the development, Invenergy LLC terminated their contract with an out-of-state provider and brought their business here, to the local economy for these services. I now have additional staff members working on the public outreach and communication of this project under my purview. This opportunity for the county and our state to generate clean energy has equated to new positions at my company –more families reaping the economic benefits of wind energy here in Minnesota. For these reasons, as a local business owner, I support this project."

While the permitting of the Freeborn Wind Farm is a significant achievement in the history of Good Steward Consulting, we have many more to share. Come back tomorrow for a third highlight.
