Her Legacy | Episode 10

A trailblazer whose influence on the game extended far beyond competition.

Judy Bell distinguished herself as a champion golfer, visionary leader, and one of the most respected ambassadors in the history of golf. In 1996, she made history by becoming the first female president of the USGA in the organization’s 102-year history.

Bell’s impact on the game spans generations. She competed in 38 USGA championships, highlighted by the 1964 U.S. Women’s Open, where she set a single-round scoring record of 67. She also represented the United States as a Curtis Cup player in 1960 and 1962, later returning to captain the team in 1986 and 1988.

Her leadership and dedication to the game earned recognition around the world. Bell is a member of 13 Halls of Fame, including the World Golf Hall of Fame, and received the USGA’s highest honor, the Bob Jones Award, in 2016.

From champion competitor to historic leader, Judy Bell helped shape the future of the game for women everywhere.

Her Legacy lives on.
