Namibia produces gold but the central bank held zero on its balance sheet, Until this week.

Like owning a farm and buying your food from the supermarket.

Rome debased its coins to fund wars. Spain. France. Britain. Same pattern, different century. When the bill gets too big, governments don’t cut spending. They print, debasing you in the process. 

Central banks are moving into hard assets for a reason. Namibia’s 3% is a good step in the right direction, late to the trade, but the direction matters more than the timing.
