🐍🧡A doctoral student at Florida A&M University is developing groundbreaking technology that could transform underwater exploration. Destiny Law is creating a seawater-powered battery capable of delivering over ten times the energy of traditional lithium-ion batteries allowing submarines and underwater vehicles to stay submerged longer and recharge in minutes instead of hours.

—Her work, in partnership with Boeing, could impact everything from national defense to deep-sea research. It’s another example of how HBCU scholars are pushing innovation forward through academic research changing the future beneath the surface.

📍An article from famu_1887 states that Law is the first doctoral student to emerge from the renewed FAMU–Boeing partnership.

More about her journey states :
“A few days before graduating, I checked my email and saw Boeing was looking for a Ph.D. student,” she said. “They were offering funding, a stipend and a potential job afterward. I wasn’t planning on grad school but I thought, ‘Why not?”’

Three years later, Law has accepted a full-time position in Boeing’s Electromagnetic Interference Lab in Seattle.

“From undergrad to grad school, FAMU opened so many doors for me,” she said. “Even on the tough days, I’m grateful. This university changed my life.”
