These are my FAVORITE international travel tips and resources that I use for EVERY trip…not just right now. Preparing before your international trip is what turns anxiety into confidence.

Start with the basics: check travel advisories before you go AND during your trip. If you’re a U.S. traveler, use the U.S. Department of State site…just search your destination + “travel advisory” and look at the level (1–4).

Enroll in STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program). It’s free and sends email updates and alerts from U.S. embassies and consulates while you’re abroad.

Download apps like Flighty to track flights and airports in real time. Delays, gate changes, cancellations…you’ll usually know ASAP!

Get travel insurance. Look into World Nomads (Travel Nomads if attached to international car insurance), SafetyWing, or Allianz Travel Insurance (please do your own research on this). And READ THE FINE PRINT. I’m not just thinking about lost luggage. I’m thinking about medical care and even repatriation. Nobody wants to think about it but if something happens, getting you back to the U.S. is NOT free.

Make copies of everything important. Passport, ID, insurance, reservations. Save them in your phone AND send them to 2–3 trusted people. Share your location too. At least five people have my location at all times because I know I like to travel off the beaten path.

Have a backup plan. Screenshot confirmations, download offline maps, and keep some cash (local currency) on you. Not everywhere is Apple Pay friendly.

Also, don’t feel pressured to travel internationally if you’re not ready. There are so many amazing domestic trips and road trips you can take. The past two years I’ve leaned more into domestic travel and I even have free downloadable itineraries if you need inspo.

Be aware, be prepared, and trust yourself. Do what’s best for you whether that’s still traveling internationally or staying/traveling stateside for a while!! #explorepage #travel #internationaltravel #traveladvice #traveltips
