Dogs don’t need constant change to feel happy. 
Their brains are wired to fully engage with the present moment.

Humans, on the other hand, quickly adapt to what they have. This is called hedonic adaptation. 

The more we chase new experiences, the faster our brain normalizes them, which is why “more” rarely leads to lasting happiness.

Research also shows that gratitude and presence increase activity in brain regions linked to dopamine and serotonin, improving mood and emotional stability. Simple, repeated experiences can feel meaningful when attention and appreciation are high.

In contrast, constant comparison and novelty-seeking can overstimulate the reward system, making everyday life feel less satisfying.

In simple terms:
it’s not your life that’s lacking
it’s your attention to it
