Those words were left on the lunar surface 56 years ago. Now, for the first time since the Apollo era ended in 1972, we're going back.
 
Artemis II will be NASA's first crewed mission since the Apollo era ended in 1972, sending four astronauts on a 10-day journey to test spacecraft systems and operations beyond Earth's orbit. The mission is a critical step toward future lunar landings and long-term human exploration of deep space.
 
The plaque said we were here once. Artemis II says we never stopped dreaming of returning.
