This match remains a hallmark of Maradona’s individual brilliance, showcasing his close control and clinical finishing under the intense pressure of the reigning champions' campaign. 
Diego Maradona’s breakthrough World Cup performance came against Hungary in Alicante. Following a frustrating opener, the number 10 delivered a brace in a 4-1 victory. His first goal, 28', was a poacher’s finish after a rebound, while his second, 57', featured a clinical left-footed strike following a sequence with Mario Kempes.
The First Goal: Maradona doubled Argentina’s lead just two minutes after Bertoni's opener. Following a parried save by Hungarian goalkeeper Ferenc Mészáros from a Bertoni effort, Maradona reacted quickest to tap the ball into the net.
