Description
Two generations of roller coaster history come together at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California. In this short video, you can see the iconic coaster Revolution interacting with Tatsu as the trains race across the hillside. It is a great example of how the park layers classic attractions with modern thrill rides across the mountain terrain.

Revolution opened in 1976 and changed the amusement industry forever. Designed by Anton Schwarzkopf and Werner Stengel, it became the first modern steel roller coaster in the world to feature a vertical loop. The ride originally opened as “The Great American Revolution” during the United States Bicentennial celebration. Its groundbreaking looping design proved that vertical loops could be smooth and reliable, inspiring an entire generation of roller coaster engineering that followed.

Tatsu arrived three decades later in 2006 and introduced an entirely different kind of thrill to the park. Built by Bolliger and Mabillard, Tatsu is a flying roller coaster that positions riders face down in a flying position, simulating the feeling of soaring like a dragon. The name “Tatsu” comes from the Japanese word for dragon, and the ride’s layout sweeps dramatically across the mountainous terrain of Six Flags Magic Mountain.

In this video you can see the visual contrast between the two attractions. Revolution’s classic looping track curves through the landscape while Tatsu’s elevated flying track glides above the hills. Moments like this show why Six Flags Magic Mountain is often called the “Thrill Capital of the World,” with rides from multiple eras of coaster design operating side by side.

This short captures a unique moment where coaster history meets modern innovation.
