Missouri Botanical Gardens Scientist Christy Edwards inspects samples of  juniper needles in St. Louis on Monday, December 19, 2022. A group of scientists found the needles on muddied boots and compared them to the DNA of individual junipers at the site where the remains of  Mengqi Ji of Columbia, Missouri were found. The group of four compared the plant samples found on the accused's boots with vegetation at the grave site.The accused, Joseph Elledge was found guilty of the October 2019 murder of his wife, Mengqi Ji, and sentenced to 28 years in prison. La científica del Jardín Botánico de Missouri, Christy Edwards, inspecciona muestras de agujas de enebro en St. Louis el lunes 19 de diciembre de 2022. Un grupo de científicos encontró las agujas en botas embarradas y las comparó con el ADN de enebros individuales en el sitio donde se encontraron los restos de Mengqi. Ji de Columbia, Missouri. El grupo de cuatro comparó las muestras de plantas encontradas en las botas del acusado con la vegetación en el sitio de la tumba. El acusado, Joseph Elledge, fue declarado culpable del asesinato de su esposa, Mengqi Ji, en octubre de 2019, y sentenciado a 28 años de prisión.
