Tillman Tuesday! 🍎 What if doctors learned to cook before they wrote prescriptions?

As a 2018 Tillman Scholar and military spouse, Valarie Carter is helping train future doctors in an unexpected place: the kitchen. 

Valarie now serves as head chef for the Culinary Medicine program at the OU School of Community Medicine, where she teaches medical students how to prepare simple, nourishing meals they can realistically share with their patients. 

Today, she’s helping shape a new generation of healthcare providers who understand that what happens in the kitchen can be just as important as what happens in the clinic.
