telayawine has always been one of those places you go to slow down. Sit by the river, take in the Greenbelt, and have a really good glass of Idaho wine.

And now, it’s not just locals paying attention.

Their 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon just scored 93 points and earned an Editor’s Choice in the April issue of wineenthusiast, which is a big deal in the wine world.

“Everything about this Cabernet Sauvignon, from texture to tannins, suggests silky-smooth satisfaction. The wine makes your acquaintance with a pretty perfume of blueberry, lilac, and saline aromas. The saline component reminded me just a bit of a sauna when water first hits hot stones. After that schvitz, you can relax with flavors of black and blueberries, rosemary, and a tiny citrus note. This is a lighter-bodied wine, with silky tannins and just enough acidity.”

Aaron from thisisboise and I were invited out to try their award-winning wines and get a behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening here.

Their space includes both a tasting room and full production facility, and everything is happening right on-site. It’s been 10 years at this location, but they’ve been crafting wine since 2008.

Their approach is “Old-world inspired. Idaho crafted.” and you can feel that in how intentional everything is, from the wines themselves to the experience they’ve built along the river.

It’s honestly not surprising that Telaya receives national recognition, but it does feel like a moment.
