Trot might be coming to the sequel of “KPop Demon Hunters”…? 👀

On April 1, the cast of “KPop Demon Hunters” visited Korea holding their Oscar trophies. When asked about the sequel, directors Chris Appelhans (appelhansc) and Maggie Kang (nutmags) kept things lowkey, saying they wanted to keep it a secret.

But Appelhans did hint that “Korean elements will still be the soul of the sequel,” adding that they want to build a new story rooted deeply in Korean culture.

Kang also shared that she wanted to give Korea a film that truly represents its culture and mentioned that genres like trot and even heavy metal could be introduced in the sequel. She also teased that it’ll be bigger and packed with more events than the first film.

지난 4월 1일, “케이팝 데몬 헌터스”의 주역들이 오스카 트로피를 들고 한국을 찾았는데요! 속편과 관련된 질문에 크리스 아펠한스 (appelhansc) 감독과 매기 강 (nutmags) 감독은 “비밀로 하고 싶다”며 말을 아꼈습니다.

하지만 아펠한스 감독은 “속편에서도 ‘한국적인 것’이 영화의 영혼이 될 것”이라며, 한국 문화에 깊이 기반한 새로운 이야기를 만들고 싶다고 밝혔고요.

강 감독 역시 “한국 문화를 보여주는 영화를 한국에 주고 싶었다”며, 속편에서는 트로트나 헤비메탈 같은 장르도 소개해보고 싶다고 언급했습니다. 또한 1편보다 더 규모가 크고 이벤트가 많은 이야기가 될 것이라고 귀띔했어요.
