## Caption

Swimming pool in stills, walk throughs + planting notes + a surprise extra exciting reveal - can you spot it?!

Lots of people asked about the planting, so I’ve listed the plants at the end of the caption. 

These are various photos and videos I’ve taken since around July last year when I started planting it up. 

The first 10 are everything in full bloom, but you can also see the plants growing up.

The next eight were all taken yesterday so you can see what it’s actually like right now, now that everything’s been pruned back for new growth. 

And you can clearly see the limestone clad walls that took me AGES to do and I’m very proud of! 

The last two were taken yesterday outside both sides of our converted barn where we’re living, just to show you the contrast! 

This is the next area we really need to work on, but we’ve now run out of budget, since we prioritized the pool, so we’re gonna have to get very imaginative as to how we do it!

PLANTING

I started with the evergreen balls of Pittisporum to give structure and green all around. Two of the six died almost immediately so they’re a little uneven!

Then I went to sotogardens for inspiration, who rather brilliantly can provide ready designed borders! I did a little bit of a pick and mix though. 

From them, I then added hydrangea lime light at the end of the pool; and hydrangea little limes (mini versions of the lime lights), Astrantia star of billion, and Royal White for height. 

I chose these particular hydrangeas, because I love the paniculata cone shape, and also because they both start off as an amazing lime green in spring, turn creamy white in summer, and then beautiful blush pink in Autumn; and then in the winter you’re left with wonderful structure.

After that, I added lemon thyme for scent, salvia nemorosa as pretty white filler; and finally, miscanthus grass at the end for height and screening.

I hope that helps! One to save, if you want to create a similar evergreen and white border that changes to pink in autumn and has structure in winter.
