This year has been one of profound loss, growth, and reflection. After losing my grandmother and my mother back-to-back over a year, returning to Toronto to receive the 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women award felt bittersweet.

I arrived in Canada by myself as a young Cameroonian teenager, eventually bringing all my siblings here with me. Today, I stand here, shaped by my adversities, my faith, and the incredible women who raised me—NEN and EDIMO.
𝗜 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱—𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗾𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗲𝘀.

Being named one of 100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women is not just about achievements; it’s a testament to how challenges have redefined me. And as a follower of Christ, I know I am walking in God’s glory and triumph, even in moments of heartbreak.
To every woman who has ever doubted the significance of her story, know this: your story matters. It crafts definitions, breaks barriers, and builds legacies. I will continue to use my voice and experiences to advance a vision of womanhood that is bold, authentic, and inclusive of the voiceless.

To my grandmother, my mother, and all the women who came before me, who fought for my freedom—this is for you. To every woman navigating loss or doubt—your strength defines legacies. Let’s continue to rise, together: ONWARDS.
