✨ Do you own or rent? Homeownership often comes with unpredictable maintenance costs.
✨ Do you have children or dependents relying on your income?
✨ Are you a dual-income household?
✨ If yes, are those incomes in two different industries (or equally vulnerable to layoffs)?

✨ How stable is your job or industry right now?
✨ Are you self-employed, contract, or commission based?
✨ How quickly could you replace your income if you lost your job?
✨ Do you have access to family support or backup resources if needed?
✨ How many months of expenses does your emergency fund cover and how secure does that actually feel for your life?

For us, it took 2 years to save $40,000, and we’re planning another year to add a few more months until we reach one full year of expenses. There is no right answer just whats right for you!
