Our $14,000 annual travel budget is for both of us not each. I know that number sounds crazy high, especially since when I first started traveling in my mid-20s my budget was only about $2,500 a year. But I’ve always used the same system.

I use sinking funds to make travel stress-free because the money is already set aside before we even book the trip.

This year, I’ve earned $1,315 just from my HYSA interest which almost covers our entire trip to Guatemala. Since my emergency fund is already where I want it to be, I use that interest money and tack it onto our annual travel budget instead of just sitting there.
