## Caption

Catapilla Island is a secluded, serene sandbank and island located within Mida Creek, Watamu. It is a popular destination for "Blue Safari" day trips, offering a mix of nature, traditional culture, and 'culinary art'.

This was a random plan after lunch :) 

Top Activities 📌
• Seafood BBQ: The island features a makeshift restaurant specializing in fresh seafood, often including prawns, lobster, and fish served with coconut rice.
• Traditional Giriama Dance: Visitors are frequently treated to traditional dance performances by the local community.
• Mangrove Exploration: The island is surrounded by diverse mangrove channels home to birdlife, such as the majestic great white egret.
• Water Sports: It serves as a docking point for Mida Creek Kayaking and canoe rides.
• Sundowners: Many tours end with a sundowner experience to watch the sunset over the creek( I wish we did this in the evening) 

How to Visit 📌
Catapilla Island is accessed via glass-bottom boat or canoe from Watamu, tentatively 15-20 minute ride from local hotels. Full-day safaris frequently bundle this with snorkeling at the Watamu Marine Park and visits to other nearby islands like Sudi(Love Island) or Waka Waka.
