TODAY I REMEMBER

Today is my mother’s birthday.
Last year she was still here.
This year, she is not.

It’s the first time I honour her day without her prescence. 

Grief is strange.
It’s heavy and soft at the same time.
Some days it feels like an open wound,
others like a quiet room inside the heart
where memories glow instead of hurt.

I miss her.
Her voice.
Her warmth.
Her way of always knowing what I didn’t have the words for yet.

But I also feel her in other ways now —
In the forest light,
in the way I breathe when I need grounding,
in the strength I didn’t know I had until life asked me to use it.

So today I celebrate her.
The woman who shaped me.
The woman who still walks with me, 
just differently.

For anyone who is missing someone today 
-I’m with you.
